How to add an AAC Switch to Play Silly Spin ABC

Using a Switch with Silly Spin ABC

Silly Spin ABC can be played using an AAC Switch, allowing players with limited motor control to independently explore, play and learn.
You can use either a wired switch (like Tapio) or a Bluetooth switch (like iSwitch) to play.
Once set up, each press acts like a simple tap in the middle of screen.

Step 1: Connect your switch

Wired switch (like Tapio)

Plug the device into the iPad. Plug your switch into it.If there is a green light, it’s ready. No Bluetooth needed.

Bluetooth switch (like iSwitch)

Turn your switch on.Go to Settings, then Bluetooth. Tap your switch to connect.

Step 2: Turn on Switch Control

Go to Settings, then Accessibility, then Switch Control. Turn Switch Control ON.

Step 3: Add your switch

Tap Switches, then Add New Switch. Tap External. Press your switch once.Give it a simple name like Switch. For Action, choose Select Item.

Step 4: Stop the screen from moving

If the screen is moving or highlighting things:Go to Settings → Accessibility → Switch ControlTurn Switch Control OFFWait a few seconds Turn Switch Control ON again

Step 5: Create a center tap

Tap Gestures, then Create New Gesture. Tap once in the middle of the screen.Save it as Center Tap.

Step 6: Connect your switch to that tap

Go back to Switches and tap your switch.Change Action to: Custom Gesture → Center Tap

You’re ready to Play

Choose Easy Tap mode and select Play. Now each press will tap the screen. Simple, consistent, and easy to use.

Quick fix

If the switch starts scanning or stops tapping the screen, turn Switch Control OFF, then back ON again. That usually fixes it.
